Helston Garages
The Helston Garages Group is a family owned and run company based in the West Country, operating over 20 dealerships stretching from Helston to Taunton and from Barnstaple to Yeovil, with Exeter forming its main hub of operations. The group supports a well balanced portfolio of brands ranging from Porsche and Ferrari to Peugeot and Volkswagen.
The company was formed in 1960 by Mr. Carr who purchased Helston Garages as a filling station and repairs workshop. After completing his apprenticeship, his son David joined his father and worked at the garage as a mechanic. In 1975 Mr and Mrs David Carr purchased the garage from Mr. Carr senior. After 16 years of working at Helston Garages establising a growing business, Mr and Mrs Carr purchased Taunton Garages. This was just the beginning of almost 30 years of steady and controlled growth for the Group. Today the Helston Garages group is firmly established as one of the top 30 motor retail groups in the country. Foster Leighton became Insurance Brokers to the Helston Garages Group in 1995, and is pleased to have been able to advise the Group during its recent expansion programme.
