Entech
Foster Leighton's involvement with Environmental Technology, or Entech as it now known, began in 1975, when it took over one of our existing clients, Western Workshops Limited a small glass fibre manufacturer in Kingsbridge, Devon. Until then Western Workshops had been best known for their ill fated attempt to corner the market in Garden Gnomes! Brian Bailey the MD of Entech, transformed it into a leading provider of GRP Architectural Panels, working for example on the Submarine Facility at Devonport Dockyard. The main Stevenage factory specialises in Architectural Panelling in a variety of materials including steel and aluminium. Over the years, it has provided exterior finishes for high profile projects such as the ITV Tower, Canary Wharf, The Waterloo International Eurostar Terminus, and the MacLaren Technology Centre, Headquarters of the MacLaren Racing Team. This state of the art building, designed by the famous architect Lord Foster [no relation! Ed.], involved Entech in the fabrication of asymmetric aluminium sections which all had to fit together on site to form the sweeping curves of the award winning structure. A fine example of British workmanship that Foster Leighton are proud to have been associated with.
