Smiemans
Foster Leighton have been instructed by Smiemans Projecten b.v. of Naaldlwijk, Holland to arrange the Construction Risks Insurance for the building of a new world-class glasshouse at the Royal Horticultural Society Garden in Wisley. The construction is nearing completion and expected to open to the public later this year.
John Foster, Managing Director of Foster Leighton & Co, We were able to place Contractors All Risks for the £5M build costs in the UK Company Market, and, working with Willis on the Liability aspects, PI cover at Lloyds for Europe-wide design exposures for 10M EUR.
Our association with our Client, Smiemans goes back to 1999, and is an excellent example of the Willis Commercial Network's IT and electronic placing capability in action. Initially, we were asked by one of our major contracting clients if we could help place a UK cover for their Dutch specialist glazing Sub-Contractor, whose own Insurers in Holland had declined the risk. We downloaded details from Smiemans' Website www.smiemansprojecten.com incorporated it into a Market Presentation and emailed to the Network Insurer Panel. Within 48 hours we had a quotation and were able to assume risk. Since then we have arranged annual Contractors All Risks cover for them and worked with them on various major projects in the UK, Eire, and now the RHS Glasshouse.
